On Saturday 14 September 2019, you can enjoy a free concert – The Raindance Project – that will take place in Vondelpark, Amsterdam. The Raindance Project is the largest global concert with free accessibility to raise awareness about the environment and to inspire people to take urgent and effective actions to bring the green back to mother Earth. The Raindance Project has an exciting line-up of outstanding artists, DJs, dancers, musicians and speakers who all come to take action for the environment. The Raindance Project is also going to be held in two other countries simultaneously with the Netherlands: Kenya, and Tanzania. In Africa, the concert will be organized in rural and drought-affected areas to inspire and activate local farmers to implement re-greening actions on their own land.

“Who brings rain, brings life” – African proverb

The world is facing with the unbalance state of nature caused by massive deforestation and rapid ecosystem degradation. As a result, our planet is heating up and drying up while the population is rapidly increasing. Especially, when the Amazon forest was under huge wildfires.  In order to solve this massive global challenge, everyone needs to take action and involve. However, if together we take urgent collective actions, we can still re-green the amount of land that is equal to the size of Europe and China combined.

Landscape restoration in Africa

Inspired by the ancient wisdom and the rain dance ritual from Africa to call for rain as a way to restore the vegetation and eco-system, the Raindance Project wants to use music as an effective and contagious instrument to spread the universal hope and inspiration for landscape restoration for a greener planet.  The Raindance Project is an initiative of the NGO JustDiggit who works closely with local authorities and communities for landscape restoration projects. The Raindance Project is an environmental-awareness program that runs for a decade, from 2020-2030. After the Netherlands, Kenya, and Tanzania, the Raindance Project continues to take place every two years around the globe.
